Uzo is an award-winning writer, filmmaker and medical doctor. His first novel, Beasts of No Nation, was turned into the international award-winning film of the same name and was distributed globally by Netflix. His work as co-founder and CEO of Ventures Africa Magazine saw him share stories of how business, policy, culture and innovation spaces are shaping Africa today. He has served as an advisor to the United Nations Advisor to the Secretary General’s Envoy on Malaria and MDG Health Financing Advocate, and was the CEO of the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, an organization that promotes private sector participation in improving health outcomes in Nigeria. In 2017 Uzo was appointed CEO of The Africa Center in New York which will connect artists, innovators and thinkers across all sectors to transform how the world understands contemporary Africa. His new novel Speak No Evil was published by John Murray in 2018.
